Details of where and when players of all ages and abilities can practise and/or get coaching in Ryedale:

Ryedale Sports Club, Pickering

Practice sessions – all welcome (details from John Gascoyne 01751 474954):

Tuesdays 2 – 4pm

Sundays 10 -12 noon

Helmsley Table Tennis Club, Helmsley Primary School

Practice and coaching – all welcome (mainly during term time only but for further details contact Cliff Edens 01653 628385):

Thursdays 5.30 – 6.30pm Beginners and intermediate players

Thursdays 6.30 – 7.30pm Competition/league players

Saturdays 9.30 – 11.00am Beginners and intermediate players

Saturdays 11.00 – 12.30 Advanced players (match play only)

Coaching for Helmsley Primary School pupils is on Mondays 3.30 – 4.30pm

Malton & Norton Table Tennis Coaching Group

M&NTTCG is a voluntary group promoting table tennis in Ryedale, with the emphasis on coaching young players. Coach Paul Stansfield run the following sessions in local secondary schools in term time:

Norton College Thursdays after school

Malton School Fridays after school

The group is always looking for volunteer helpers – please contact Paul if you are interested.

The group also runs the Ryedale Junior League at Norton College gym on Wednesday evenings, 5-7pm, from October to March over 14 weeks. Teams are composed of three players of school age: all players (any standard) are welcome and teams can register more than three players.

Local coaches also organise inter-school friendly matches, fun games for primary schools and the Ryedale Junior Closed Tournament, which takes place in March each year.

Cliff Edens Coaching School

Cliff Edens is our local ETTA Level 3 Coach and Sports Coach UK Level 3 Tutor. He has received the Yorkshire Service to Sports Award 2001, was ETTA Tutor Coach of the Year 2005, and won the ‘Outstanding Services to Table Tennis in Yorkshire’ Award 2007.

Do you want to learn how to practise properly?

Then contact Cliff Edens and he can go to your club, analyse your play and (hopefully) teach you things you didn’t know about your game. He can also give you an ‘action plan’ to help you improve throughout the season.
